Due to poor business capabilities, David Buick, founder of Buick automobiles, sold his company to General Motors in 1903. Crapo Durant, then head of GM, intended Buick to become the finest car on the market for middle income America.

It was introduced in 1904 by General Motors with a production number of 37 units. Subsequent years saw Buick remain within the accepted standards of other autos of same quality.
