After touring in Europe, Ford Motor's General Manager, Lewis Crusoe, decided that Ford should introduce a sports car. Through the efforts of David Ash, Franklin Hershey, Bob Maguire, Bill Moyer, and Damon Woods, the first prototype was unveiled in 1954.
