One of the main themes in the Haas Collection centers around books and ephemera. This enormous accumulation had its beginnings over 50 years ago. Located in the 19th Century home of our collector is a wondrous library devoted to the history of the local area and Northwest Territory. The shelves are brimming with books and albums full of ephemera.

It seems every topic within this wide field is touched upon. Some of the more obvious areas are: Ohio and local history books, trade cards, postcards, documents and a wide range of general book topics. A one-of-kind newspaper collection, recounting the history of Washington County, Ohio adorns the walls of the main hall. Mr. Haas's true collecting passion comes forth through this superb assemblage.

When you visit Mr. Haas, a story about his past collecting usually surfaces. He might mention his travels in Cuba during the Castro Revolution and his small grouping of newspapers recounting this volatile time in history. If you are fortunate, you will be treated to a thorough examination of this vast assortment rivaled only by your last visit to a historical museum.
