Empire Secretary Bookcase
Drawer Detail
It was difficult to choose just one example to represent this fine collection, but decide we did. The "Empire Period Secretary Bookcase" is magnificent. This piece has one board sides, scroll front columns, full length drawer on bottom of cabinet, two chamfered oval reserve doors, overhanging cornice, dovetail construction, fitted interior, pilaster front, drop front desk lid and crotch mahogany veneer. Its most important attribute to history is its reported ownership by Rufus Putnam. A letter from prior owner recounting its provenance is included with this fabulous offering.
